An executive consultant with a diverse background in the multi-disciplinary
science underpinning radioactive waste management.
Previous responsibility, as a member of the Nagra (Switzerland) Management Team,
for one of the most advanced repository programmes in the world and, as Director of
the International Services and Projects Division, for the successful development of
an international consulting service, the operation of the Grimsel Test Site and the
foundation of the ITC school.
MAJOR
ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Internationally established reputation in the nuclear waste management field
with extensive experience in expert groups, advisory panels, programme committees,
etc.
- Coordinated a wide range of multi-disciplinary R&D programmes, often implemented
as international collaborations
- Contributed to planning, implementation, documentation or review of all major
geological disposal performance assessments in Switzerland and Japan
- Initiated seminal geo-microbiology, radionuclide migration and natural
analogue projects
- Author / co-author of 3 books and over 250 technical publications
(papers, reports, articles and book chapters)
- Developed the concept and implemented the establishment of Nagra's
international services division
- Actively involved in advanced Knowledge Management, repository design,
site characterisation and safety assessment studies

selection / characterisation programme

- Established radionuclide sorption laboratory and
all required radioanalytical infrastructure
- Provided sorption data for LLW disposal site (Drigg)
and potential deep disposal sites (Altnabreac, Harwell)
