An executive consultant with McKinley Consulting and Coordinator of Information
and Translation Services for Nagra (Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal
of Radioactive Waste).
Over the last 25 years, she has been involved as a translator and technical proof-reader
in most areas of the radioactive waste management and disposal and has become increasingly
involved in managing information and communication projects for commercial clients, mainly
in Japan.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Contribution to English documentation of key geological disposal projects in Switzerland
(editing and translation of reports), including the Project Gewähr 1985 feasibility study, the
1994 Kristallin-I synthesis and the 2002 Entsorgungsnachweis feasibility demonstration for
high-level waste / spent fuel / long-lived ILW, as well as the series of reports leading up to
the selection of the Wellenberg site for L/ILW.
- Coordination, management and linguistic quality control of major geological disposal projects
in Japan, including the H3 and H12 feasibility studies and the 1st and 2nd TRU reports for JAEA
(previously PNC/JNC).
- Coordination and management of information projects for Japanese clients on a range of topics,
including communication strategies, financing of waste management, quality assurance and knowledge
management, the legal framework for waste disposal and key developments in the Swiss programme.
- Key contribution as a technical proof-reader to scientific publications, for example on natural analogues
(Poços de Caldas, Elsevier, 1993) and the proceedings of the 1997 MRS symposium (McKinley & McCombie, MRS
publications, 1998) and the 2007 ICGR conference proceedings.
- Experience in the area of communication and dialogue strategies: tours of Nagra facilities,
presence at Nagra exhibitions and road-shows with close contact with the public, preparation of communication
materials - including the highly successful Nagra Bulletin series and the 1994 natural analogues video "Traces
of the Future".
